The goal of the Media Relations Unit is to keep our citizens informed regarding significant investigations,
important safety information, and other law enforcement events and activities that impact our community.
This is accomplished by working very closely with our media partners to maintain transparency and deliver
timely and accurate information across several different mediums and platforms on a regular basis.
The public information officers, while speaking on behalf of the Sheriff, routinely disseminate press releases,
provide news interviews, respond to various media requests, and update the agency's social media sites as part of their normal duties. Relaying important information
clearly and accurately is critical and can even save lives in certain situations. This is a responsibility the members of this unit take very seriously.

The Media Relations Unit is available during normal business hours to handle routine requests from the media.
After normal business hours and during holidays, a public information officer will be on call to respond to
breaking situations or major scenes, at the request of the Sheriff's Office. Media calls and emails will most
likely go unanswered outside normal business hours. Routine requests for police reports, booking sheets, body
camera video, etc. will be received and reviewed the following business day.
An on-call calendar is provided HERE for your convenience for use during normal business hours.
Requests to view inmate first appearances should be submitted to the Court Administration Office by visiting
www.circuit5.org/recording.
Requests to interview inmates in the Lake County Detention Center should be submitted to the on-call public information officer.
