Captain Brian Weddle 

was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and within 3 years moved to Alaska with his older sister Lori, his mother Starr, and father Roy as he was serving in the United States Air Force. The traveling life of a military serviceman led the Weddle family to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa Florida in late 1988. Following the retirement of his father, Brian was permanently relocated to Lake County in 1990. Lake County has always been considered home.

Brian started his career with the Lake County Sheriff's Office in August of 2003 as a civilian Corrections Auxiliary Officer. Within 3 weeks, he was enrolled in the Corrections Basic Recruit program at the Lake Technical Institute in Tavares, Florida. He went on to receive exemplary academics, earning him the Academic Achievement Award as well as the Firearms Award for the highest overall firearms score in the same class. The first ever achievement of its kind in the known history of the Corrections Basic Recruit Program at Lake Technical Institute. From there he worked as a Correctional Officer assigned to housing and later was selected as one of the first permanent booking officers in the Lake County Detention Center. In August of 2007 he was selected to be the Accreditation Manager of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Detention Bureau. Since then, he has led the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center through a record 6 re-accreditation assessments as well as establishing the Lake County Sheriff's Office as an Excelsior Agency within the Florida Corrections Accreditation community.

In addition to the education listed above, Captain Weddle has a multitude of certifications and training certificates through the Florida Sheriff's Association, FEMA, The Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, FDLE and serves as a long-standing Florida Model Jail Standards Lead Inspector with 50+ career facility inspections to his credit. In 2016 he received the Florida Model Jail Standards Committee Chairman's Award.

Brian is the proud father of 2 teenage children, Brea and Karsten. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his kids and his beloved fiancée Katelyn Michelle. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling and most recently mountain bike riding. He's also a fan of both modern and classic cars and trucks and likes to attend car shows, swap meets and motor sports racing events.
