General Counsel David W. Porter 

was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. After graduation from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree, he completed law enforcement basic training at the Florida Institute of Criminal Justice in Ocala, Florida where he was the recipient of the K.C. Alvarez Award for top recruit. As a law enforcement officer from 1992 to 1996 he worked in patrol, SWAT, and street level narcotics before entering law school at Florida State University in 1996. Mr. Porter graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Juris Doctorate in 1998. As an attorney, Mr. Porter has devoted most of his professional career to law enforcement as an Assistant State Attorney and as outside General Counsel to the Marion County Sheriff from 2006 to 2013.

Mr. Porter has volunteered his time as a music minister in his church and as Vice President of the Board of Directors for Kimberly's Center for Child Protection. He is married to Tammy, his wife of 21 years, and has three children; Sydney, Reese, and Andrew.
