WHAT IS EXPLORING?   Are you in middle or high school and between the ages of 14 and 21? Are you interested in a career in law enforcement, or seeing what being a deputy sheriff or detention deputy is all about? THEN EXPLORING IS FOR YOU!

OVERVIEW:   Explorer Post 60 was established in 1989 to show Lake County's young men and women what law enforcement is all about! Exploring is much larger than just us. Explorer Posts are all over the country, and while law enforcement is by FAR the largest career field, there are many other avenues as well. Explorer Post 60 is a chartered program under Learning For Life, and is the longest serving of our many volunteer programs.

WHAT DO SHERIFF'S EXPLORER'S DO?   The explorer post is part of the community services division. Explorers work together with Deputy Sheriff's and other members of the Sheriff's Office, called 'advisors'. Advisors supervise all explorer post functions, such as special events called 'details', where we assist with Security, Traffic Parking, Crowd Control, and other events. Explorers also receive specialized training, and most of all have FUN traveling, sightseeing, and meeting others interested in law enforcement!
