OVERVIEW:
The Lake County Sheriffs Office Search and Recovery Unit (Dive Team) is one of several specialized units in the agency. The Dive Team is part of the Special Operations Division of this Agency and is one of the highest rated public safety diving units in the State of Florida.

MEMBERS:
The Dive Team is currently comprised of seventeen (17) certified SCUBA divers. Team member’s ratings include Dive Master, Master Diver, Law Enforcement Diver, Nitrox Diver, Wreck Diver, Cavern Diver, Night Diver, and Rescue Diver. All Dive Team members are required to attend monthly dive trainings and the majority of our divers are accredited Police Divers by the National Academy of Police Diving. Team members are on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year in addition to their primary duties of Road Patrol, Corrections, Criminal Investigations, or the AG/Marine Unit.

EQUIPMENT:
The Dive Team is equipped with a 20ft dive trailer for storing dive equipment, a 22ft pontoon boat, a Marine Sonic Under Water Side Scan Sonar, and a generator and lighting for night operations. Outfitted with dry suits, underwater communications and other assorted state of the art equipment, the Dive Teams primary mission is for searching and recovering drowning victims due to swimming, boating, airplane and automobile accidents or underwater evidence recovery from a crime. The Marine Unit, of the Lake County Sheriffs Office, provides surface support and scene security for searches and recoveries where boating traffic may be a hazard.
