Special Investigations Unit |

The Special Investigations Unit, along with Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations make up the Lake County Sheriff's Office Investigation Bureau. One of the Special Investigations main responsibilities while working in an undercover capacity is to combat the illicit drug activity within our community. Some other areas of concern are violations of alcoholic beverage and tobacco laws, individuals involved in sexual misconduct, and any other type of investigation of a sensitive nature. The unit consists of twelve investigators who are all operating on various work schedules to accommodate the demand placed upon them. They are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and are specially trained in the vast field of illicit narcotics. The Sheriff has outfitted the Special Investigations unit with some of the most sophisticated technical equipment of its kind in the area of law enforcement. We have the most updated and modernized equipment to conduct just about any type of undercover operation. Our equipment ranges from audio/visual monitoring and recording devices, electronic equipment capable of receiving telecommunications and equipment utilized to conduct nighttime surveillance. Confidentiality of investigators identities, types of equipment used and tactics employed, cannot be elaborated upon further to maintain safety to all parties involved. |
