When a deputy responds to a call and if an incident report is generated it is assigned to a Criminal Investigation Bureau detective and is routed to the Central Records department. All incident reports have been assigned a case number and all information pertaining to a case (report) is filed and remains permanently. All cases are filmed on microfiche and kept as a permanent record. (In the near future microfiche is going to be replaced by a document management system on computer.) Central Records department processes vehicle/boating accidents that have occurred and transmits the reports to DMV/Tallahassee or Florida Marine Patrol, and Lake County Public Services for monitoring. Central Records department processes traffic and boating citations issued by a deputy and transmits them to the traffic department, DMV/Tallahassee, or the Florida Marine Patrol. Reports that meet a specific requirement for other agencies are processed and delegated to the proper agency. Such as: * Felony arrest by a deputy is processed and transmitted to the State Attorney's Office for prosecution. * Misdemeanor arrest by a deputy is processed and transmitted to the Juvenile Clerks Office for prosecution. * Juvenile arrest by deputy is processed and transmitted to the Juvenile Clerk's Office for prosecution. Juvenile arrest for a felony offense or act of violence is processed and transmitted to the Lake County School system to be informed there is a problem with that particular juvenile. * All animal reports are processed and transmitted to the animal control and Environmental Health department for investigation. * All domestic violence reports are processed and transmitted to the Haven, Inc. (A shelter for battered/abused women & children). * All sexual & child abuse incident reports are red-flagged to prevent a victim's name or identity becoming a public record. * All hate crime incident reports are reported to FDLE/UCR department for statistical records. Statistics are recorded for the FDLE/uniform crime reporting department to monitor the crime index throughout the state. |
