TRIAD/S.A.L.T.

Seniors and Law Enforcement working Together

What is TRIAD?

The National Triad was formed in 1988 as a partnership between the National Sheriff’s Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and AARP. The national group is called NATI (National Association of Triads, Inc). The TRIAD is a partnership of public and private organizations brought together to address the issues and concerns of senior citizens.

What are a local TRIAD and S.A.L.T. Council?

At the local community level, the TRIAD is a partnership between many different organizations tasked with identifying and developing programs to address the needs and concerns of senior citizens. Issues such as personal safety, health concerns and transportation needs are topics due to senior population in Florida.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Lake County TRIAD is community-based initiative involving seniors, law enforcement and service providers, who work together to promote the safety of our senior citizen’s through education and crime prevention. Through this cooperative spirit, TRIAD looks to alleviate fear of victimization, build confidence, enhance the delivery of law enforcement services and improve the overall quality of life to our elder population.

TRIAD’S MAIN PURPOSE:

To develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and programs for older community members. Educational programs are also developed to educate the individuals and businesses that provide services to seniors.

What results from TRIAD?

Seniors benefit from regular contact with service providers and gain knowledge of available services. Law enforcement personnel gain a better understanding of seniors’ fears and concerns, which enables them to develop programs to meet those needs. Service organizations benefit from improved allocation of services, cooperation with other providers and a better understanding of the challenges facing law enforcement.

How can I participate in TRIAD?

Seniors interested in participating in the development of TRIAD can assist in strengthening the efforts of the newly formed Lake County TRIAD by completing the questionnaire on the website. This information will be entered into a data base that will assist in formulating better services currently provided to seniors and possibly to recognize services that are needed but not yet available.

Once TRIAD is established there will be additional information included on the website to register online if you would like to participate in the Lake County TRIAD. Please visit the website often for updates in activity.
